In this political cartoon, there is a pregnant girl who faces the issue of abortion. The word "abortion" is shown and it's definition states "An intensely personal, medical, and emotional decision that can only be made between a legislator and his political interest group." This definition represents a form of sarcasm. The legislator and his interest group actually do not have to make any type of personal, medical, or emotional decision at all. The family of and the female who is getting an abortion has to make those types of decisions. However, she is not allowed to do such because of the legislator's authority on abortion. Her identity is shadowed by darkness. This represents that the legislator is not aware of the affects of their decision on individual people. The control over abortion is unfair due to the number of various situations that cause pregnancy.
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal of a fetus. A legislator's authority on abortion should be revoked because this issue of abortion should be an individual decision rather than one that controls the masses. The ability for the government to control abortion takes away a female and her family's decision to do what they think is right. Cases of pregnancy vary from person to person, therefore it is wrong to make a decision that the mass of females must follow. For example, if a girl unwilling got pregnant due to rape, should she be forced to have the child? If so, the probability of females trying to attempt abortion themselves rises. This goes to show that government control over abortion brings about even more issues in our society.
