In the cartoon you see a car at the gas station. The sign at the gas station says 5.00 a gallon and the person in the car is saying "The price of liberty is" On the newspaper, it says "Mideast uprising" The message of the cartoon is that the gas prices are going up due to the uprising in the Middle East. The reader can imply these messages because it shows the ridiculous price for gas is above the newspaper which has the story of the problems in the Middle East. The problems in the Middle East tend to affect all the other countries around the world. Since the Middle East contains most of the oil supplies, we will feel their pain in our pockets at home by the soaring gas prices. The fight for liberty should be assisted by all the nations of the world, because if we don't help now it can lead to soaring gas prices, a shortage of natural resources and chaos and destruction in the world.
