This cartoon depicts the very controversial issue of the new healthcare program, otherwise known as "Obamacare." In the cartoon, the setting is a show and Uncle Sam (which represents the United States) is in the audience next to a donkey. The donkey says "The more you see the more you like" and the donkey is referring to the leg that is peeping out from the curtain with stockings on. However, behind the curtain is a large and obese man that is extremely unappealing with a tattoo that says "Obamacare" on it. The message that the cartoonist is trying to get across, is that the healthcare plan that was created by the Obama administration isn't as great as they are trying to make it out to be.
In Obama's proposed healthcare plan, he tells the public that everyone will have healthcare. Although this seems like a great idea, it would be horrible for America as a whole. Taxes would increase, which is not a very good option right now in this horrible economy. With a new option of public health care, it would put private health care insurance agencies into jeopardy, which could potentially lead to many jobs being cut. Also, the government will control your healthcare options without giving you any free choice. With the negative effects outweighing the positive ones in this situation, it goes back to the cartoon created by Daryl Cagle who shows that the Obamacare program isn't as great as it seems to be. The proposed Obamacare program will have devastating effects if it is signed into law, and Americans should not let this happen.
