In this cartoon, President Hosni Mubarak is seen as being “reclaimed” by the desert. The cartoonist is trying to say that Mubarak has finally agreed to resign his presidency and decided to step down. As the cartoon depicts, Mubarak is seen going back to where he came from; as a sandstorm. At the same time you see an Egyptian on his camel, watching as the president is finally going away. In my opinion, I completely consent with the Egyptian public that President Mubarak needs to resign, and that it shall be best for everyone, result in peace, and enable their government to establish a democracy. The majority of Egyptians despised Mubarak’s fraudulent administration and protested for his resignation until he agreed to do so on February 11th. Now that he has stepped down from power, as it shows in the cartoon, he has been “reclaimed” by the desert, meaning that he is at last, done demanding what he wants to the public and is going back home.
